Changsha Taiping Old Street is located in the middle of the Urban area. Jia Yi's former residence was built during the reign of Emperor Wen of the Western Han Dynasty. It was the residence of Jia Yi, the king of Changsha. From 177 BC to 174 BC, Jia Yi, a famous political commentator, thinker, litterateur, and King Taifu of Changsha in the early Western Han Dynasty, lived here. The former residence building is in the style of the Han Dynasty. More than 6000 square meters of well-preserved Jin bricks were used during the construction process. The entire building adopts the shape of a temple and house in one. There is a Daguanlou built behind Jia Yi's Temple. There is a well in front of the temple. Legend has it that Jia Yi dug it and is called Taifu Well. There was once a stone bed next to the well. It is said to be the original object of Jia Yi's former residence. It was stolen and lost in 1958. There are still two stone tablets in the former residence, and the dented handwriting is no longer recognizable. Jia Yi was a native of Luoyang, Henan Province. He was called to a doctor by Emperor Wen at the age of 18 and was promoted to a doctor in the middle school in less than a year. At the age of 23, he was demoted to the title of Taifu of the King of Changsha due to the jealousy of his ministers. Three years later, he was recalled to Chang 'an and later served as the tutor of King Huai of Liang. After King Huai of Liang fell off a horse and died of sorrow at the age of 33. The poems he wrote when he was in Changsha,"Ode to Qu Yuan" and "Ode to Peng Bird" have far-reaching influence. Chairman Mao Zedong wrote "Seven Wonders·Jia Yi" in 1964, praising the people of Huaisi. "Jia Shengcai is extraordinary in regulating the world, and he cries and praises Qu Wen. It is an ordinary thing for King Huai to lose his horse. Why should he mourn for the rest of his life?" "Hometown of Qu and Jia" is Changsha's iconic cultural heritage, and Jia Yi's former residence is also Changsha's oldest above-ground monument.
