The poem "Fireworks fall under Yangzhou in March" has been engraved in my heart since I was a child, but I have never had the opportunity to go there. This year's Qingming Festival holiday decided to visit Yangzhou next time and see her beautiful appearance.
Let's get to know Yangzhou first: Yangzhou was called Guangling, Jiangdu, and Weiyang in ancient times. It has a long history, bright culture, prosperous commerce, and outstanding people. Located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, it is a city in the Nanjing Metropolitan Area and a city in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. It is also one of the first batch of historical and cultural cities in China. The beautiful scenery of Yangzhou in spring is famous all over the world because of the poems written by the poet immortal Li Bai.
Yangzhou is not big and suitable for a two-day or three-day tour. It was initially decided to go on April 3 and return on April 5. Hurry up and book round-trip high-speed rail tickets and hotels online. It's really difficult to book tickets for the Qingming Festival holiday. The direct ticket from Wuhan to Yangzhou has not been booked, so we can only transfer at Nanjing South Railway Station. The ticket from Yangzhou to Wuhan has been completed after many twists and turns. The hotel is booked at Jiangnan 'an Smart Hotel on Jiangyang East Road. Pay attention to the weather in Yangzhou. It will light rain on April 3 and sunny days on the 4th and 5th. Compared with the continuous rainy, cold and humid days in Wuhan, the weather in Yangzhou is really strong!
Let's take a few photos first for everyone to enjoy.
The ancients needed to take a boat to go to Yangzhou, but now we take the high-speed train and arrive in more than four hours. The high-speed railway on April 3 is G1722. The train to Hongqiao in Shanghai leaves at 8:00 from Wuhan Station. I got up and got ready. I went out on time at 7 o'clock and took a taxi to Wuhan Station. Fortunately, although the weather was gloomy, it did not rain, and the way was smooth. I arrived at 7:30 and felt the holiday atmosphere. There were so many people traveling.
Take a taxi to your booked hotel. Arrive at 12:30.
He Garden, located at No. 66 Xuningmen Street, Yangzhou City, is also known as "Jixiao Villa." It is a Chinese classical garden building built in the middle of the Qing Dynasty. It is known as the "First Garden in the Late Qing Dynasty." It covers an area of more than 14,000 square meters and a building area of more than 7000 square meters.
Go to the hotel to put down your luggage, take a short rest, and head to Heyuan. I live not far from He Yuan. I walk there and solve lunch problems on the way.
There are many people visiting. Due to the rain, the photos taken were a little dim.
The chandeliers and furniture of that time are still not outdated today
It takes about two hours to complete the tour of Heyuan. Go out and take a taxi and head to Dongguan Street.
Dongguan Street is the most representative historical old street in Yangzhou. It stretches to the ancient canal in the east and Guoqing Road in the west, with a total length of 1122 meters. Dongguan Street used to be not only an important water and land transportation route in Yangzhou, but also a center for commerce, handicrafts, and religious culture.
Like old historical neighborhoods across the country, there are shops on both sides of the old street selling local specialties, tourism products, various snacks, etc. Stroll through it, feel the prosperity of the past, and find out the differences in Yangzhou's ancient streets.
After playing Dongguan Street, I took a taxi back to the hotel to rest. It's a busy and stressful day, and travel is like this.
Daming Temple is located in Shugang, the northwest suburb of Yangzhou City. It is the oldest temple in Yangzhou City and a national key temple. In the third year of Xianfeng of the Qing Dynasty (1853), Daming Temple was once again destroyed by war. The existing building was rebuilt during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874). During the Tang Dynasty, Master Jianzhen presided over the temple and traveled east to Japan from here.
Before coming here, I learned from the Internet that cherry blossoms were blooming on Jianzhen Road, so I had breakfast on the morning of the 4th and took a taxi to Jianzhen Road to try my luck. As expected, the cherry blossoms have passed. It seems that in the south, the cherry blossoms will not be seen during the Qingming Festival. Fortunately, there are a few late cherry blossoms on the roadside. Take some photos to commemorate them. Jianzhen Road and Daming Temple are next to each other. There are Jianzhen Library, Yangzhou Buddhist College, etc. Along the mountain path for about one kilometer, you will reach Daming Temple.
Guanyin Mountain is located on the east side of Daming Temple and is a representative of the mountain temple. Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty once built the palace "Mystery Tower" here. After the Song Dynasty, temples were built in dynasties, known as the "First Lingshan." Many cultural relics unearthed in the Tang Dynasty are now on display. This is the natural commanding height of Yangzhou, overlooking the north and south of the Jianghuai River and providing a panoramic view. However, Guanyin Mountain is not open today.
In spring, Slender West Lake is the most beautiful season of the year with green willows, blooming flowers, small bridges and flowing water, and rippling cruise ships. Not only did the emperor love to come, but many literati and literati left many praising poems and calligraphy treasures.
We entered from the north gate. Since Slender West Lake is long and narrow from north to south, it requires a lot of physical strength. We originally planned to take a sightseeing bus or boat, but because we wanted to take more beautiful photos, we decided to walk slowly.
The road outside the south gate is closed, making it inconvenient to take a taxi. I was preparing to go to Wenchang Pavilion, but I couldn't get a taxi when I reached the intersection. I had to take the bus. It was two stops away, but Wenchang Pavilion was located in the center of the area and the traffic jam was very serious. After arriving at Wenchang Pavilion, I got off the bus and found a cafe to sit down and rest. I plan to return to the hotel after dinner.
The following is a photo taken on the way from the hotel to Heyuan on the afternoon of April 3. It was drizzling.
The following is taken on the morning of April 4th. The weather is fine.
The following is a photo taken on the evening of April 4, along the canal.
At noon on April 3, we ate at Yangzhou Lion House on the edge of the canal. It is indeed a famous restaurant. It is past one o'clock, and there are more than a dozen tables of customers waiting outside.
Fast food at Bixiangju on the evening of April 4th.
When traveling during holidays, there are really too many people. Everything increases in price and the experience is not good. It is best to go out and play normally. If you must travel, you must make plans, strategies, and book tickets, hotels, etc. in advance.
It is best not to travel on holidays, as you will encounter many difficulties.
I am still satisfied with my trip to Yangzhou. I came to Yangzhou for fireworks in March. I hope my experience can help you. Thank you for browsing.
